PRICELESS

There are things here on earth that are priceless. Material things of this world that money cannot buy. Not even the richest man can put up money to purchase something that is priceless. And even still, there is something more priceless than any item money could try and buy: heavenly treasures. The treasures that you continue to store up could never match any priceless item here on earth. Not one. And they can never be taken away from you. The thought of earthly possessions and how in a second they could be gone surely is a good perspective to be reminded of often. If I was stripped of everything I own, what would I have left? It says in Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” A hurricane, tornado, flood, a thief, anything could happen in a split second and it's gone quicker than you can blink. I think one of the best examples or ways of storing treasures in heaven is the great command Jesus has given us; Love.

During the usual nightly chat with my dad, we talked about something that made me think of this all. We talked about my uncle, one of the coolest, most hilarious, loving guy you’d ever meet. The type where the room lit up with joy when he entered it and the glue to our whole family. He was just "The Guy". He passed away in 2013 from a cancer that just ate away at his body. My dad mentioned that when my uncle gave him his golf clubs, it was a hard realization that he knew he wouldn’t be with us much longer. At the time my uncle had first gotten those clubs, he LOVED them. He loved golf and everything to do with golf. Loved playing it, loved watching it. These clubs were everything to him. But of course, a dying man knew he couldn’t take them with him. They became meaningless, so so meaningless. Not just because he couldn’t use them due to being physically weak from the cancer or the surgeries or pain to even walk or lift the remote, but because they were of no value to him anymore. No earthly possession meant anything to him, for all he had left was what awaited him in eternity. And man, I can only imagine the crown he wears for the way he lead his life in his dying years. I never wish for anyone to realize what really matters in life because they see an end date to it. But for people to see it now. While you’re most alive. Healthy, beyond blessed, can walk, see, hear, run, sprint, love, hug, kiss, and hold. Nothing here on earth is more valuable than that. You are loved by the Father, the creator of everything that’s priceless, so love like him.

For you too are priceless.
